They helped when I played a save file for so long that it would take up to 30 minutes (no kidding) to load up, or even save. These links helped me when I had issues with my computer overheating and crashing the game. Most of these require you to edit and delete various files and folders, if you're not confident with messing around in your computers files then I'd recommend backing up any files and folders you're about to edit, in case something goes wrong, or to just give yourself piece of mind.) None of these were my own ideas, they are things other users recommended, I tried, and they ended up working for me. (Disclaimer: I am in no way a computer expert, just a generally good troubleshooter I'd like to think. but some of the things I've tried that have worked I haven't been able to find in this sub, so I thought I'd compile an updated list of things to try. Simply copy that back if the one in the folder gets overwritten.I know there's a bunch of these posts on here already, about things to do to fix your game/make it load faster etc. To save your option settings and recreate them easily, make a backup of the file options.ini (also in your user directory). For the future, make sure to always backup all your stuff, especially before installing an update. If you don’t have one, you’ll need to start over. If an update is the reason for your missing folder or the search turns up nothing, only the loading of a backup helps. If you can locate your lost data this way, simply copy everything in the newly created folders and your stuff is back. Looking for *.sims3, DCBackup or DCCache is your best bet to find the stuff. Search your hard disk for the lost folders. This can be very annoying especially since the age settings are also stored in that file. If you update your drivers (especially the graphic ones), all options will be reset to factory settings. In case of the options there’s a third possibility. Best is to backup after every extended gameplay. Because of this, you need to make a backup of the files before updating Origin or the game. There were incidents where a Origin or game update deleted the user files. If the game does not find the expected user directory (or any of the folders it needs), it recreates a new folder but that will be empty so that all of your downloads/saves are missing.Ī second cause can be a patch. This problem mostly occurs if you accidentally move your user directory to a different place (with Windows, this can happen very easily).
